Introduction

Mastering is the last step in the mockup production process. It is an important step and it will ensure both that your track sounds loud and that consistently traduces well no matter what system you’re playing it back to.

The recommendation is to export the mixed track and then do the mastering in a separate new project. You can always do the mastering in the same mixing project, but generally, in a professional context, mastering will be a separate process in its own.

In the following videos we’ll see the the mastering plugin chain for both orchestral and hybrid tracks. The main difference between thosewill be that when we’re mastering a hybrid track (orchestra & synths) we may apply a little bit of multi-band dynamic compression, while if we’re mastering an orchestral track (no synths) we wont. The rest of the mastering steps will remain the same.

It is very important, when mastering an orchestral or hybrid track, to keep the natural dynamics, specially for the orchestral part. So we will avoid drastic compression or limiting in the dynamics or maximizer step.
