The ostinato rhythm, (16th note followed by dotted 8th) is used effectively in creating an urgency in contrast with the slower melodic rhythm with quarter notes. It is almost like the tritone between Eb and A was preconceived, but it took a detour to the minor 6th of the scale to add an ominous element.
